CSUN has received 4.5 out of 5 stars on the Campus Pride Index. Campus Pride is a national nonprofit organization that works to create safer, more LGBTQ-friendly colleges and universities. CSUN ranked second in the California State University System.
The campus pride index was calculated by measuring how inclusive a college campus is to LGBTQ+ students. The factors include student life, academic life, campus safety, counseling and health, and other services and policies.
CSUN features a variety of programs and services designed to support LGBTQ+ groups on campus. The Pride Center, located in the University Student Union, features programs like T-Time, a chat group dedicated to trans and nonbinary students, and the Lavender Takeover, a group built to give LGBTQ+ voices of color a space to speak. The Queer Collective provides student leaders opportunities for queer advocacy, and Gamma Rho Lambda, a queer-based social sorority, provides additional ways to connect. Additionally, the university offers gender-inclusive restrooms, an LGBTQ+ therapy group, LGBTQ+ scholarships and much more, to uplift and support its LGBTQ+ student population.
