A new and exciting phase for CSUN had its formal introduction March 14, with the investiture ceremony of Erika D. Beck as the university’s sixth president. The day was a mix of long-standing traditions and personal touches, beginning with Beck taking part in the cherished custom of laying a rose at the Matador Statue.

Professors in their academic robes and regalia processed into The Soraya ahead of Beck, who was accompanied onto the stage by leaders of the Fernandeño Tataviam Band of Mission Indians. At Beck’s request, members of student clubs were featured on stage. Students in the CSUN dance program performed and musicians with the CSUN Jazz Studies program played throughout the ceremonies. A kickback on the University Library lawn finished out the day.

Beck took office in January, 2021. She is the fourth consecutive female president of CSUN.
