California State University, Northridge’s David Nazarian College of Business and Economics Dean Chandra Subramaniam announced today that the business college has named its real estate center in honor of Harriet and Harvey Bookstein and their generous support of the college and its students over the years.

The Bookstein Real Estate Center offers both theoretical and practical aspects of real estate and provides an academic foundation for careers in real estate. Students completing an option in real estate will have satisfied most of the educational requirements for the California real estate broker’s license and the real estate appraiser’s license.

“Harvey and Harriet Bookstein have once again shown their unwavering support of Nazarian College with their generous contribution to our real estate program,” Subramaniam said. “Their long-time philanthropic and volunteer support has benefited countless students and served as an inspiration for many over the years. That’s why we are thrilled that Nazarian College’s Center for Real Estate will now be known as the Bookstein Real Estate Center in recognition of their generous philanthropy and good citizenship.”

Harvey Bookstein said he and his wife were honored to have the center named after them.

“Harriet and I are pleased to support Nazarian College and its continuing efforts to advance real estate knowledge and educate future generations of real estate leaders and professionals through timely research, education programs and community involvement,” he said. “We feel so fortunate that we are able to help Nazarian College build a thriving real estate program that will benefit its students as well as the communities in which they will ultimately work.”

To mark the naming of the Bookstein Real Estate Center, the Nazarian College is hosting a celebration on Monday, May 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Orchard Conference Center adjacent to the university’s bookstore complex. The event will feature CSUN President Erika D. Beck, Subramaniam and Harriet and Harvey Bookstein. There will also be a panel discussion on leading issues in the real estate field.
