What does the future hold? California State University, Northridge is opening its doors to high school and community college students to explore their answers to that question on Friday, Oct. 23, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the annual CSUN Open House.
CSUN Open House is an opportunity for students to explore the academic programs that match their interests and goals, learn about different career opportunities and get excited about going to college.
“We want students to visit CSUN and imagine their futures as successful college graduates,” says Juana Maria Valdivia, the director of Student Outreach and Recruitment at CSUN. “About 70% of our students are the first in their families to go to college. If you don’t have that background and knowledge at home, it’s harder to navigate the college journey. We’re here to provide support and help students plan a successful path to CSUN and to graduation.”
Academic showcases will take students behind the scenes of majors and programs, introducing them to faculty, staff and students, and offering a taste of what to expect as a student in their major of interest. Guests can also tour the campus and explore student centers and health and wellness facilities, including the new Valera NEST, which centralizes access to food support, housing, clothing and other basic needs services.
Open House is free for students and their guests, and parking is included. For more information and to register, visit csun.edu/csun-open-house.
