After more than three decades, CSUN students returned to the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), marking the university’s first participation since 1992.
The competition, hosted annually by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), challenges students to develop a comprehensive advertising, marketing or media campaign for a major corporate client. This year’s client was the National Football League.
A team of 20 interdisciplinary undergraduate students competed under the banner of AAF CSUN, a student organization established in 2024.
Team members conducted primary research and produced a full suite of creative campaign materials as part of their submission. They presented their campaign on April 11 at the district-level competition held at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles, where they placed fourth overall.
In addition to the team’s strong showing, art-animation major and the team’s creative lead, Rachel Holmes, received the Judge’s Choice Award for her contributions.
The team was advised by Mariam Beruchashvili, a marketing professor in the David Nazarian College of Business and Economics. Building on this year’s success, AAF CSUN plans to participate in next year’s competition.
