CSUN’s Department of Journalism is establishing a state-of-the-art media studio thanks to a generous $300,000 gift. The Charles and Eileen Olsen Media Studio will include state-of-the-art cameras, microphones, teleprompters, and computers, among other items, to equip the professional podcast studio for the benefit of CSUN students.
The gift from the Charles and Eileen Olsen Charitable Foundation also includes endowed funds to maintain and sustain the studio’s equipment. The equipment will be able to evolve with the changing media landscape of the future.
The studio will be located on the second floor of Manzanita Hall.
The endowment may also be used to fund student projects using the studio, guest speakers/professional development in podcasting, and other necessary relevant support of the studio.
Some funds may be used for scholarships for journalism students in need of financial assistance.
Longtime residents of Beverly Hills, Eileen Olsen was a set designer and commercial stylist and the proprietor of Pastiche, a popular art, jewelry, and antiques boutique in the Antiquarius Center for more than 25 years, while Charles Olsen built a career as an actor, model, voice-over specialist, and later a professional photographer.
