CSUN students received a dose of that “fall feeling” last week at Pumpkin Fest. The annual event, which was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic, is organized by Associated Students and the University Student Union (USU) and features free pumpkins, treats and fun activities.

Though this year’s event, which took place on Oct. 12, featured more social distancing and COVID safety protocols, but not much else changed from years past. A long line of eager students trailed through the USU, waiting to pick their perfect pumpkin from the tables. Students then had an opportunity to stop at one of two photobooths, where they could pose with their new gourd and their friends in front of a pleasant fall background. Candy apples, pumpkin carving kits and sunflowers wrapped up the giveaways.

Many students gathered at tables throughout the Plaza del Sol, where the event took place, their pumpkins filling the table space in front of them. The only thing left to do: figure out how they were going to fit a pumpkin in their backpacks.
