Hoping to empower individuals and connect and support families, California State University, Northridge’s Family Focus Resource Center is hosting the 13th annual All Abilities Resource Fair on Saturday, Nov. 7.

The fair is intended for young adults and families with children with disabilities to provide them with recreational, mental health and community resources. The event is scheduled to take place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the University Student Union, located on the east side of the campus at 18111 Nordhoff St. in Northridge.

“We are hoping that those who attend the fair get a sense of unity knowing how many different vendors and organizations are out there that can support their child,” said Diana Sanchez-Chulak, director of operations for the center. “There are no limitations in finding assistance for their children.”

“We also want them to know that Family Focus is there for them when they need help,” Sanchez-Chulak continued. “Those of us at Family Focus are parents or relatives of children with disabilities. We understand what you are going through and we’re always there to help.”

The fair’s activities include a sensory room, hosted by We Rock the Spectrum Gym for those children who may become overstimulated and a music therapy clinic with instruments for children to play with hosted by the CSUN Music Therapy Wellness Clinic.

Characters from Star Wars from the 501st Legion, which includes several CSUN staff members as volunteers, will be available for photo opportunities, and there will also be a photo booth and therapy dogs.
