This past May, CSUN’s President’s Donor Appreciation Celebration took on a fresh new look, bringing together alumni, donors, campus leaders, and students for an evening of gratitude, inspiration, and artistic excellence at the Younes and Soraya Nazarian Center for the Performing Arts.

The reimagined event format featured a lively reception followed by a program inside the renowned performing arts center, creating an immersive experience highlighting the impact of philanthropy across the university.

Guests began the evening with a reception that filled The Soraya’s courtyard with conversation and connection. Serenaded by the CSUN Jazz Quartet, donors, university leaders and supporters gathered to celebrate a shared commitment to student success. Following the reception, the CSUN Acasola group ushered attendees into the Great Hall for the official program.

President Erika D. Beck welcomed guests and reflected on the many ways philanthropic support strengthens the university’s mission. Sharing a series of milestones that underscored the university’s growing momentum, President Beck underscored how, for the first time in university history, CSUN will surpass $100 million in philanthropic commitments, marking one of four record-setting fundraising years in the last five. She highlighted several examples of donor impact and noted that donor generosity helped raise more than $4.25 million in scholarships supporting 1,763 students.

Throughout the program, the audience bore witness to the talents of students from CSUN’s Department of Theatre and Department of Dance. President Beck praised the performers’ hard work and encouraged the audience to enjoy the performances “in the spirit they are offered: as a gift from students who are grateful for yours.”

The student performances highlighted the creativity, dedication, and excellence that define the university’s performing arts programs. From expressive choreography to engaging theatrical moments, the students captivated the audience and demonstrated the impact of donor support on academic and artistic opportunities.

The program closed with remarks from Robert Taylor, CSUN Foundation’s Board of Directors Chair, who thanked donors for their ongoing generosity and partnership with the university. Reflecting on the collective impact of philanthropy and the meaningful difference donors make in the lives of students, Taylor reminded the donors that their generosity “ensures that Matadors’ talent and drive are met with opportunity, support, and a true sense of belonging.”

The President’s Donor Appreciation Celebration served not only as a thank-you to the university’s generous supporters but also as a reflection of the spirit of partnership that continues to strengthen CSUN, demonstrating how philanthropy helps create opportunities that transform lives, enrich communities, and shape the future.
