After two deployments in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War, Robert Meyerson turned his focus to college, first at Pierce College and then at California State University, Northridge.
There were many veterans on campus at that time, but he still faced a period of adjustment.
Recently, Meyerson ’73 (Business Administration) and his wife, Gloria ’69 (Anthropology) have championed an organization that would’ve eased and enhanced his college experience considerably — CSUN’s Veterans Resource Center.
The VRC, part of the University Student Union, is a place where the 400 self-identified student veterans on campus can find a community of people who understand their experiences, no matter the military branch. The VRC connects veterans with critical resources including personal, professional and academic counseling, mental health services, emergency financial assistance, and other assistance that boosts their chances of college success.
The Meyersons have donated to numerous causes on campus over the years. Robert Meyerson, the retired president and CEO of Fiserv FSC Inc., joined the CSUN Foundation Board in 2024. This is the second year in a row the alumni couple has supported the VRC. For Giving Day 2025, they posted a $7,500 challenge donation that was met with 25 gifts for the VRC. In total, the VRC raised more than $14,000 from over 40 donors on Giving Day.
