The Institute for Sustainability at California State University, Northridge will host its fifth annual campus EV car show on Wednesday, April 15. Students and the general public will have the chance to test drive the newest electric cars and discover more about their innovation and sustainability.
“The EV Car Show reflects an ongoing commitment to sustainability by the Institute for Sustainability.” said Yan Searcy, dean of the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences, “We are showcasing technology and transportation options that have been scientifically proven to be better air quality than internal combustion engines.”
The event is scheduled to take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the corner of Lindley Avenue near Matador Square. Students will be able to see and experience the latest cars and tech from Galpin Motors, Lucid Motors, Rivian, Chargie and Tesla.
The Institute for Sustainability and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences will also be hosting an invite-only panel discussion exploring energy policy and how it has influenced the automotive industry’s shift toward hybrid vehicles. The panel will be a moderated discussion with industry professionals sharing their perspectives on how regulations, incentives and evolving energy priorities are influencing innovation and decision-making in the auto sector. It will then be followed by audience Q&A and closing reflections from the panelists. The panel is scheduled from 11:30 a.m to 1 p.m.
“The car show brings the community to campus and brings attention to the institute overall,” said Searcy, “As the next generation of transportation consumers it is ideal to introduce students to sustainable transportation options as soon as possible.”
Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for giveaways and to enjoy music.
